MICA

What Is Mica?

Mica is a family of naturally occurring minerals known for their distinctive layered structure, excellent electrical insulation and thermal characteristics. Its ability to split into thin, flexible layers, combined with its physical, electrical and thermal properties, allows mica to move from a natural mineral into highly specialised industrial materials and components.

Selection depends on grade, thickness, operating temperature, electrical requirements and application conditions.

MICA AT A GLANCE

ELECTRICAL INSULATION

Mica is valued for its electrical insulating characteristics and is used in applications where insulation performance is critical.

THERMAL PERFORMANCE

Mica can be used in applications exposed to elevated temperatures, making it valuable in thermal insulation and heating systems.

MATERIAL VERSATILITY

Different mica types, grades, thicknesses and forms allow the material to be selected according to the requirements of the application.

FLEXIBILITY IN FORM

Natural mica can be supplied as blocks, splittings, sheets, strips, flakes and powder, and can subsequently be fabricated into engineered components.
